The Earth Friendly Lolita Project is a non-profit campaign founded by two Filipina lolitas: Jaja and Abie.
Our mission is to extend our love with the beauty that is lolita into helping save what beauty is left with Mother Nature. In this blog, we will share every footstep we make on our fight to make the world a better place for us lolitas to live.
With this, we aim to bring inspiration and awareness to our fellow lolitas and to everyone who would want to take part with the fight.

It’s 12:37am here of Feb 25 2011. It’s late but I want to steal this moment while my thoughts are still fresh and clear. I have a busy life, so busy that I could only give internet a two to three times visit per week. But I’m pushing my energy tonight to make this thoughtful blog.
Why lolita for this cause? There has been a little debate with this matter for people have different point of views and opinions about lolita. I want to let everyone know that I respect your beliefs and I would appreciate if people reciprocate that respect.
Going back, there has been a confusion on how will lolita and being eco-friendly would unite with the idea of lolita as an expensive fashion and Mother Nature which could mean soil and dirt and trees etc. I think that is the feel we are somewhat trying to create in everyone’s heart. Lolita has become more meaningful throughout the years because of the lifestyle it carries and that lifestyle doesn’t only include recreating tea party ceremonies etc. I think what makes lolita a not-so-tiring thing to do even though I do it in daily basis for the last four years is that you could actually put your own icing on your cake. It is how you channel out the beauty you feel on your clothes through your personality, through your life. And I think that what defines lifestyle lolita. It is your own story to tell.
Me and Mommy Abie have a sensitive side on simple things. A tiny butterfly could make us smile. Lolita is like a boiling pot of everything that is beautiful and it’s has always been Nirvana for us to wear clothes that speaks beauty. And it is lolita that opened our eyes on finer things. Even as fine as an unusual looking caterpillar or such. It is lolita that made us love simply because we can and we have the heart to do so. It could be blasphemy but lolita has even more impact on me than my actual religion. Or perhaps it’s God’s plan for me. I could think of many things but I know in my heart I am a much better person because of lolita.
I imagined myself being not lolita and having to do earth-friendly tasks. Sure, there would be a little satisfaction in my heart for I always loved nature ever since. But I would admit I would get tired of doing plain things later on. There was no icing on my cake. And with lolita, there will be lots of ways, lot of ideas and an unexplainable enjoyment that never last. We would want to do something with enjoyment, with pure joy, with just pure ‘wanting to do it’ because it is sugar coated with lolita. I can reuse a plastic cup as a container, yes. But it would bring me more excitement if I decorate that cup with laces and bows. Lolita is a never-ending opportunity.. And we chose to express that opportunity into caring for the source of all the pretty things in life — the Mother Earth.
It is 1:12am now here and it took me almost an hour to complete this blog. I wish I had more time to organize my thoughts but I think it would be best to leave it as is. When my mood is still being stirred with sincerity and just plain love for what I want to do. And I end this note wishing that my reader would see more meaning with lolita and the essence it is trying to speak. Because lolita is more than just clothes.
